After 18 Years of successful service, IMAGE has grown to be the largest Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility (CBWTF) in the country. It houses all the modern equipment required for the Biomedical waste treatment and disposal in a common facility and a fleet of 65 specially designed GPS enabled vehicles (trucks) which collect and transport biomedical waste from all the affiliated health care facilities in Kerala, criss-crossing the length and breadth of the state every day, confirming to all the legal regulations and statutes of the land. The treatment facility now boasts of exponential growth, adding to its repertoire, Four more incinerators (Now, total 5 Biomedical waste Incinerators with 2,000 Kg/ Hr total capacity) being connected with Online Continuous Stack Emission Monitoring System (OCEMS), Four more autoclaves (Now, total 5 Autoclaves three 3000 ltr /cycle capacity and two 1,000 Ltr/ cycle capacity autoclaves), Two plastic Grinders, Three plastic shredding cum washing machines, One tube cutting machine, Two hydraulic bundling machines, Two bottle sorting machines, One glass bottle washing machine, One sharps shredding machine, conveyor system at plastic processing sheds, a cluster of concrete sharp pits, vast facility for storage of incineration ash, a most modern effluent water treatment plant with a treatment capacity of 4.5 lakhs litres per day, a most mordern Sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 20 thousand liters per day, rain water harvesting system etc.The plant has been monitored 24 hours by Surveillance cameras.

As of today, IMAGE covers every nook and corner of the state ensuring prompt collection of biomedical waste through a highly efficient logistics network which when combined with the assemblage of most modern treatment and disposal mechanisms ensure most effective transportation, scientific treatment and disposal. As on 30.06.2022, a total of 18,495 health care establishments are affiliated to IMAGE (1,943 Bedded HCIs & 16,552 Non Bedded HCIs). The total bed strength in the 1,943 bedded HCIs is 107,058 . Presently IMAGE handles more than 82% of the biomedical waste generated in the whole state of Kerala.
